This course has been designed to support school staff to respond to students who exhibit behaviours of concern. During the course, you will investigate the functional relationship between environment and behaviour, develop an understanding of the purpose and appropriateness of using a functional approach to analysing behaviour, learn how to assess behaviour using the Prevent–Teach–Reinforce model, and learn how to develop behaviour support plans.
This course has been designed to support school staff to understand the Department’s guidance around behaviours of concern, including the relevant legal obligations, the interventions available to school staff when addressing behaviours of concern, and how to work with parents and carers when addressing a student’s behaviour. During the course, you will explore the seven phases of the behaviour cycle, and learn how to develop behaviour response plans for students who exhibit behaviours of concern.
This course has been designed to support school staff in understanding the causes and triggers of challenging behaviours. During the course, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to maintain safe and inclusive environments for meaningful learning. It is recommended that you complete this course before undertaking the Prevent–Teach–Reinforce and Behaviour Response Planning courses.
